Excerpt from A Genealogy of the Nye Family
In offering this book to the public then, it is not intended that it shall be taken as a complete genealogy of the Nve Family but as a collection of valuable information carrying the Nye Family back in a connected line for about seven hun dred years and enabling all who have any information of their own whether published in the book or not to connect their line back to that time.
The compilation of this work was first commenced by Mr. George H. Nye of Auburn, N. Y. He sent out many letters of inquiry and the response to these was so great and so rapid that the task of arranging the material thus obtained was more than he could do with his other business duties. He therefore employed Mr. Frank E. Best, a professional genealogist. Of Chicago to take what material he already had, to obtain more and arrange the whole into such shape that it could be published. The European history was obtained and the line was completed from the time that the name originated to the present.

The author meticulously compiled this work from a wide range of historical documents, including Bibles, marriage and death records, and land deeds. Beginning with Benjamin Nye's settlement in Sandwich, Massachusetts, the book follows his descendants through the generations, tracing their movements and detailing their contributions to American history. The author provides a comprehensive account of the Nye family's role in the founding and growth of the United States, and sheds light on the social, economic, and political forces that shaped their lives. From their participation in the Revolutionary War to their involvement in westward expansion, the Nye family's story is a testament to the resilience and determination that have come to define the American spirit.
