Paperback. Condizione: New. Print on Demand. This book engages with the literary and cultural transformations that occurred during the transition between the naturalist era and the emergence of neo-romanticism, examining the works of authors like Samuel Lublinski, Arno Holz, and others. The author argues that naturalism, despite its initial aspirations, ultimately failed to achieve a genuine synthesis of content and form, resulting in a style that was more of a surrogate than a true reflection of the evolving cultural landscape. The book delves into the complex relationship between the individual and the environment, exploring how naturalism's focus on the milieu often overshadowed the subjective experiences of its characters. The author also discusses the rise of impressionism, highlighting its role in paving the way for neo-romanticism and its emphasis on Stimmung, or atmosphere, as a central element of literary expression. Ultimately, this book provides valuable insights into the dynamics of literary movements and the ways in which they shape and are shaped by the cultural contexts in which they arise.
