This book is intended for students commencing the study of Logic. It is an elementary exposition of the subject on traditional lines. Modern logicians have added many refine ments to the analysis Which has been generally received since the days of Aristotle. But the more subtle questions of criticism can only be appreciated intelligently after the elements of the subject have been mastered. A brief account of the more important reforms in logical doctrine is given in the Appendix now added. The treatment Will be found sufficiently full for the preliminary examinations at the Universities, and for the purposes of students preparing for any of the various examinations for a. Teacher's Certificate. In the present edition the exposition of Inductive Logic has been considerably extended, and will now be found ample for all elementary purposes.
