The author's Sphere of labour, at that time, was far removed from Bury, and having had for a quarter of a century very exacting and laborious work, travelling in the United Kingdom, he eventually located himself in the northern counties, and though still busy he found ample leisure to think and write about Bury.
The first paper appeared to satisfy the friendly editor of those days, and hints were not only spoken.
