Excerpt from A Greek Delectus
Those who are in the habit of using valry's greek delectus with their pupils are well aware that, in the selection of examples, verbs irregular and contracted have become intermixed with verbs regular, verbs com pound with simple, though to each kind its own proper position in the book is professedly assigned. To remedy this fruitful source Of perplexity and confusion to the learner, at the very outset of his career, has been one of the Objects proposed to himself by the Editor; and he trusts that, in this respect at least, the text, as it now appears, will be found free from error.
A new body of Notes and a new Lexicon are also given. In the former, difficulties and niceties of con struction are explained in the simplest terms Of which the subject allows in the latter, the fullest information will-be found in the place of the comparatively small amount Of matter before supplied.
By these means it is hoped that this highly-useful little book will long maintain that high character and extensive circulation which it has hitherto enjoyed.
