My name is Earnestine Nuby. There is not very much to tell about me. I was born in the clay hills of Durham, N.C. to the late Daniel McClary and Mary Hopkins. I am not one who has a B.A., B.S., or P.H.D or any other degree. I am a graduate of Hillside High School, Durham, N.C. I married very young to a wonderful man, Linden R. Nuby. We have been married 50 years as of July 7, 2002. I am the mother of five wonderful and not so wonderful children. Three girls and two boys, Dyceria Y. Drakeford, Marvella L. Dade, Linden R. Nuby, Jr., Mark A. Nuby and Lucretia R. Davis. I am the grandmother of four, Da Ron Irby, Clarence J. Dade, Jr., Clinton Dade and Aaron L. Drakeford and two great grands Montae Smith and Leslie D. Dade. After retiring in 1997, I began to put some of my thoughts on paper. I don't type very well anymore and I am computer illiterate, so therefore my writing wasn't going anywhere. I thank God for sending a very dear and precious young lady Theresa DelCol back into my life. She so graciously volunteered to type my manuscript for me. Thanking God for Theresa's help, which has enabled me to put my manuscript together. I strongly feel that my gift for writing has been given to me by God as a way of letting me know that I'm loved. Because all of my life I have never felt that I was truly loved except by my loving and devoted mother. I apologize to my family if I haven't always shown you love, but I guess it was because I haven't known what real love was.
