L'autore:

Russell C. Brock was born in Winchester, Kentucky; his childhood years spent in Hazard, Kentucky. The family moved to Indiana where Russell graduated high school and joined the Marines. After the war Russell moved to Denver, working for Armor and Company. In 1953 Russell moved back to Indiana, working as a long haul trucker until 1959 when he decided to follow his dream of homesteading in Alaska. Finding and living on the land he called "Bachelor's Roost" in central Alaska took courage and determination. In 1964 Russell met and married Opal Eaton (from Indiana) and took her family back to Alaska. In their later years Russell and Opal moved to Bradenton, Florida, fondly remembering life on the homestead.
