This book is dedicated to the memory of my mother and role model, Mrs. Linnie D. Gray. She was a community activist, missionary, care-giver, and a friend to all who knew her. My mother was born in 1914 and was raised by her grandmother, Mrs. Liza Flowers along with her uncle Sam Flowers, whom she loved dearly. She stopped attending school upon completing the third grad in order to take care of her grandmother who was dying of cancer. My mother never complained about anything. She believed in the power of prayer and used it to get through the difficult times in her life. She had strong facial features due to her families Indian genes and long beautiful black hair. My mother went to church faithfully while growing up in Mississippi. Church is where she met her husband and my father, Joe C. Gray. Too their union they had nine children and all were born by a mid-wife except one. My father died at a young age and my mother was left to raise the children alone. The oldest son in our family was not old enough to plough the fields, so she did a man's job and ploughed the fields to raise crops. My mother raised cattle, chickens, cotton, corn, peanuts, cane, and the list goes on. Since my mother was raised in the church, she made sure that all of her children attended church, Saturdays was the day to get the hair washed and straightened, that meant that some one was going to have a burnt mark and sometimes it was me. When we arrived at church she would prepare a pallet under the church pew for the kids in case one of us fell asleep, the big children were responsible for caring the little ones.

L'autore:
I am the proud mother of two sons, Robert and Calvin. Robert is deceased. I am the grandmother of three grandsons. I grew up in a small country town in Miss. Carthage, Miss. Where people cared for one another, I came alone when times were pretty hard, my father passed at a young age, my mother had to keep food on the table, I worked in the fields, chopping cotton picking cotton, gathering vegetables feeding chickens, feeding hogs, milking cows, and the list goes on, but through it all I learned how to survive. I enjoy reading, cooking attending church and helping others who are less fortunate than I am, I enjoy shopping traveling, I have been to Mombasa Kenya East Africa, Paris France and South America, I went to the mission field in Africa, the harvest is great hut the laborious are few.I am very out spoken, which I am working on. I have four living sisters one deceased, she was special to me and I really miss her. I have one brother, Otis that I am very close to.I worked for Goldsmith Department Store for thirty years as a Specialist, and now I am retired, I take care of a lady who has Lupus. To God be the glory for all the things He has done.I can't began to tell you what the book means to me and how my life has been changed while trying to put the book together, how coming into the knowledge of Jesus Christ to help the cause has given me a new out look on life about my sisters and brothers there.after traveling to Mombasa Kenya East Africa, and seeing the conditions God put it into my heart to share with others through the book to help the cause. People are suffering in every way, the book is used as a tool to reach out to those who might want to go to the mission field, if not maybe help someone who is already there. I would hope that after reading the book that God will touch your heart to share in some way. Do you have a skill which God can use? My prayer is that He will send someone.
