She has three sons and six grandchildren, with whom she has had many challenging conversations about the nature of belief. She is an adult convert to Christianity, has belonged to several Protestant denominations, and received a valued education in a variety Roman Catholic settings as well. She has, as C. S. Sarah Taggart left the field of social work to earn a Doctor of Ministry degree in 1989. She is author of three previous books about personal faith: The Elephant Called Reality (Ecumenical Theological Center 1990), Living As If (Jossey Bass 1994), and Searching For Dr. God (Thomas More/RCL 2000). At present she is a full time writer, and has also published three novels and a book of poetry. She is married and has three sons and six grandchildren.
