Excerpt from Wise Men From the East and From the West
Following the current custom, I wish to devote this opening chapter to the consideration of a question which I feel my comparative study of the East and of the West in this volume is likely to raise.
The question seems to me to be a natural, although not always a pertinent, one. The case is not altogether hypothetical. And while the atti tude which this question reveals is that of a oer tain class, yet the interrogation exists potentially in the general consciousness of a people whose life is critically studied by a writer of alien birth.

Paperback. Condizione: New. Print on Demand. This book examines the historical and philosophical differences between Eastern and Western thought, exploring the reasons why the East has remained largely passive and contemplative, while the West has been more aggressive and experimental. The author argues that these differences are rooted in the fundamental nature of the two minds and that they have had a profound impact on the development of their respective cultures. The book delves into the nature of religion, social and political tendencies, and the search for spiritual meaning in both the East and the West. It provides a unique perspective on the challenges and opportunities that arise from the interaction of these two worlds and the potential for their spiritual union.
