It was the perfect day to get socked in the face with a ball of wet dirt. Slowly, with my head down and my tail between my legs, I walked home, picking clumps of mud out of my hair and wiping tears from my cheek. What little had remained of my self-esteem was shattered on the corner of my street like shards of a broken mirror, reflecting the laughing, loose-toothed faces of the jerks who had pelted me with filth.
