On the trip home, they are dogged by Douglas, who has obtained a court order to take his mother back to California. As they fight for Grace's freedom and dignity, the two women learn things about themselves and each other. They are on a journey that will change both of their lives forever-one that will test their stamina, their determination, and their ability to believe.

Michel Strickland is an advocate for at-risk youth who has created her own behavioral and cognitive restructuring program for anxiety disorders. She is working on her master's degree in equine-facilitated psychotherapy. She lives on an old farm in the Pacific Northwest with her husband, four horses, two dogs, and five cats.
