He attended the University of South Carolina, the University of Texas at Tyler, and graduated from Howard Payne University in 1983 with a Bachelor of Arts degree. He was twice named to Who’s Who of America for academic excellence. His hobbies are travel, tennis, chess, harmonica, and reading. He has enjoyed a management and sales career for over twenty-five years, and has two grown children.
