Gary Mogan has enjoyed a diversified lifestyle. Having been born and raised in a small hamlet of the foothills of Southern Ohio, he graduated from The Defiance College in 1977, where he was a member of Theta Xi Fraternity and was a three year letter winner in football, and a four year letter winner on the college wrestling team. After graduating from college, he realized the small atmosphere the farming community of Circleville offered was too claustrophobic; therefore, he chose to move forward. He relocated to Fort Lauderdale in 1978. When Gary was hired by a major airline as a Flight Attendant later that year, he relocated to New York, where he lived in Forest Hills, near the old World’s fair. Once the taste of the fast pace of large city living established itself upon Gary’s lifestyle, it was then he was certain he could never live in a small village again. Gary relocated back to Fort Lauderdale in 1980. He meet his wife on the beach in 1981, were married in the Catholic Church in 1983, and have Best Friends and lovers ever since. They have two grown daughters, Shauna Christine and Alicia Kathleen. In listening to Gary speak of his children unquestionably; he proclaimed being a Father was the best thing that he ever experienced. “Simply holding an infant, caring for them, watching the very first step they ever take, and always being there throughout theirs lives, made me a better, more responsible person. I wanted to be good role model, someone my children could be proud of.” Gary enjoys such hobbies as boating with his family, including the family animal rescue dog, Smokey. “It wouldn’t be boating if you didn’t take the dog,” he joked. Boating is definitely a family affair. His youngest daughter and wife are both certified divers, while his oldest daughter Alicia is an experienced fresh and saltwater fisherman, whose favorite type of fishing is nighttime shark fishing. Gary’s activities do not stop with a full-time job and boating. He umpires high school baseball, high school girl’s softball, and all other levels of travel league games. Further, he and his daughter Shauna volunteer with the Florida Renaissance Festival in Fort Lauderdale and Miami each year to go back to the old ways of the sixteenth century. He expressed it is a great relief from the stress of his day time job by making patrons feel “merry” while participating in the festival.
