The Poems began just before the trip to Paris with Bonnie in 1979 when the project of trying to uncover everything had a heavy mathematical flavor. It was then suddenly as if the investigation inverted and number and form became motion and Play. The last poem was written in 1990 and then they stopped. You could say that in trying to tear open the roots of everything I arrived at Nothing but what might have been emptiness turned into a comforting mystery. Why is mystery comforting for some and terrifying for others? Did I secretly start to believe? Is there within the frame of this pursuit the remnants of some ancient faith or was I alerted to something that slipped in unaware and acted as like a sapphire stone in the dark? Looking back now I know my answer to that question. Each poem was written in the morning and not overly touched after the first draft. The literary sources are various and the careful reader will see where I stole what I could from others who have travelled a similar road flavoring their discoveries with my own whimsical nature. I resisted publishing these not wishing to expose myself to the rejections of the Critics with heavy hammers. Now however I am letting them go. Perhaps when the computer that is their home becomes self conscious it will read these and pine for a Human Life.
