Today's the Day is a result of decades of reflection, and listening to and learning from many people. I am profoundly indebted to all those who've helped guide me and inspire me. So, as I have been influenced by a wide variety of people, my words wish to return this favor in kind, and speak to the most common ear, in this world where discord and divisiveness and people struggling are ever so apparent. And it's clear to me, that our world is crying out for what no social, political, or economic agenda alone can provide. What we need the most is a widespread awakening of a spiritual kind, which will help unite us in the truest spirit of goodwill, cooperation, peace-making, and problem-solving. And such is our realizing and acting on the basis of what's ever-present and ever-available at the core of us all! Today's the Day, then, aims to continually draw the reader into the heart of the matter-into the very essence of who we are, and the very essence of love, and happiness, and peace. . . . As these are daily meditations, a specific piece of writing is offered for each day of the year. One can reflect on what's written for a particular day, a particular week, or month; or simply turn to any page, at any time. And, as I indicate throughout the book, any day's selection can easily be applied to any other day. So . . . Today's the day to realize what it is to be truly happy and at peace in this life! . . . Any moment is this chance: to recognize what simply fulfills and nourishes us like nothing else can. Such is love, pure and simple . . . as the love we honestly give and receive mirrors our true nature-reflecting our most intimate bond with the Origin of all creation. This eternal union with our Source is our very essence, a core open-heartedness, and where the purest sense of happiness and peace, joy and serenity abides.
