If I had to sum up the book in a word, it would be clarity . You could turn the study of casting into a masterclass in applied physics if you wanted to, but Wulff has the great teacher s knack of distilling complexity into everyman English, and the combination of crisp text and illustrations make this a very absorbable read. As befits a near-lifelong mastery of her subject, the author digs deep yet lucidly into the components of sound casting technique, to the point where it s not difficult to imagine the book benefitting not just beginners but also veteran anglers set in their casting ways, whose own technique might benefit from a refresh. Joan Wulff is the first instructor to unravel the mystery of fly casting to the point of pioneering a set of mechanics. These were presented in her book, Joan Wulff’sFly Casting Techniques (1987). She is also the author of Joan Wulff's Fly Fishing: Expert Advice from a Woman's Perspective (1991), and Joan Wulff’sFly Casting Accuracy (1997).
