Fatherhood, Despotism, Mystical Mutterings, and Other Unrelated Poems, Aphorisms, and a Short Story: Volume 1 - Brossura
The late and great British journalist and writer G.K. Chesterton once said “We are perishing for want of wonder, not for want of wonders.” We have remarkable technological advances, but what has all the progress done for us? We are jaded, and complacent. We have lost our ability to marvel, to wonder. And sadly, our ability to wonder and take joy has faded with all the pressures of life. Poetry is an act of rebellion against a complacent life. Reading poetry makes us aware of the places worn thin between heaven and earth. It gives us a sense of transcendence and humanity, beauty and tragedy, joy and sorrow. It is my hope that you will laugh, cry, think, be disturbed, elated, and ultimately, inspired to be creative yourself by reading this. Hopefully you may look beyond the mundanities of your life and find the divine through the power of the creative written word. And when you look up at the stars, you will marvel with ceaseless joy.
