This is an up-to-date introduction to the field of international business that presents the real world of business in the global marketplace to students. The text contains real-world mini-cases and anecdotes from business practice. These actual examples of good and bad international business decisions demonstrate the importance of topics, and illustrate why care must be taken when doing business overseas. The authors discuss major topics using a logical framework, covering the macro, environmental dimensions of international business before covering the micro topics. Thus, they begin with global issues, continue with a discussion of the firms environment, and end with firm-specific issues. Throughout, the authors provide extensive coverage of complex theories and models. The text gives students relevant material, reasons for learning it, and examples of how to be a good international business manager. Key features include: illustrations of both good and bad international business practice with relevant, and current real-world examples; numerous mini-cases and four full-length cases from the University of Western Ontario; a chapter, "The Changing World of International Business", illustrating the impact of current events on the international business issues discussed in the previous chapters; a table of world currencies and a mini-atlas at the end of the text. Supplemental to the text is "Blunders in International Business" by David A. Ricks, which illustrates the pitfalls of international business practice. An instructors manual includes teaching notes, test questions, video and additional readings suggestions, and transparency masters that go beyond simple reproduction of text material, as well as a computerized test bank.

Recensione:
"I think that this book is far superior to any other books that I have reviewed in terms of the fine level of examples and assignments given to students. I think it makes it a standout from to her texts. I think that this book is very effectively put together. I think that students will find it reads well and will be easy for them to use and have great meaning. In fact, I think it is a book that they will keep. International Business is universal and timeless in its presentation." Maureen J. Fleming, The University of Montana

"Good students know what is expected and why it is important. The cases rate very highly with students. The commercial focus gives the book a real competitive advantage with students. The extensive use of The Economist is good (it is required reading in my classes).I plan to adopt the text for next Fall should it be available..." Richard H. Reeves–Ellington, Binghamton University
