9781563473975: Mathematical Methods in Defense Analysis

Sinossi

Desiring peace, the US preparation for war includes analytical techniques and modeling of its own and enemy defense capabilities as taught by the author at the Air Force Institute of Technology, Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, in Ohio. A new chapter on theater missile defense extends the concept of layered defense against ICBMs to shorter range or cruise missiles. The other chapters cover some once classified scientific methods in military operations, properties of weapons, passive targets, combat models, strategic defense, tactical engagements of heterogenous forces, reliability of operations and systems, target detection, optimization methods, and statistical modeling. Appendices include probability tables, solutions of combat equations, and information on using the accompanying defense analysis software for PCs. Dates are not given for the previous iterations. AIAA is the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics. Annotation c. Book News, Inc., Portland, OR (booknews.com)
