A French philosopher, activist, and mystic, she repeatedly sought to enter into the world of workers and the poor. Though her mystical experiences brought her to the threshold of the Catholic church, she chose not to enter. Through the introduction by Eric O. Eric O. Springsted has been the president of the Simone Weil Society since 1981. Currently, he is a guest professor of philosophy and a visiting scholar at Princeton Theological Seminary. He is the author and editor of four previous books on Weil including Simone Weil and the Suffering of Love (Cowley Publication) and Spirit, Nature and Community (SUNY Press).
