His first book, Escape from Libby Prison, received the 1996 George Washington Honor Medal for Excellence from the Freedoms Foundation at Valley Forge, Pennsylvania. It was also featured in a Discovery Channel documentary. Mr. Gindlesperger is also the author of Seed Corn of the Confederacy.
