Now married and the mother of children, her daytime life seems at odds with the business that she runs—or does it? Here again is a way for readers to understand an invisible world and an invisible life, and to put faces on the faceless people of the night. Like Callgirl, Madam’s message is that they are not so different from the people who live next door to you. They may, in fact, even be your neighbors.
