Nothing short of a perfect pope will be able turn the tide now threatening to drown every hope for an earthly measure of human happiness or even for bare survival. He is the author of a number of cross-disciplinary books.His major field of interest and research is human consciousness, and in his book, Einstein and Aquinas: A Rapprochement (The Hague: Martinus Nijhoff, 1969), he explores consciousness in depth. Another book, Self Rescue, (New York, McGraw Hill, 1977; Lowell House, 1999), in contrast, has clinical applications.
