Dan Waters was born in Des Moines, Iowa, in 1964, but grew up in the country near the small town of Lovilia in southern Iowa. Mr. Waters received a bachelor's degree in business administration in 1986 and a law degree in 1989 from the University of Iowa. He ran track and cross country for the University of Iowa, and while studying abroad at Oxford University, he also ran with the Oxford Athletics Club. Mr. Waters has practiced law with the firm of Davis, Brown, Koehn, Shors & Roberts, P.C. in Des Moines since 1989. He and his wife, Stephanie, live in West Des Moines.
