Show that American pride!All-American Sugar CookiesWhat you need:1 cup butter (2 sticks), softened1 egg1 cup sugar1 1/2 tablespoons milk1 teaspoon vanilla2 2/3 cups flour2/3 teaspoon baking powder1/4 teaspoon salt colored red sugar or sprinklesWhat you do:1. In a large mixing bowl, cream butter and sugar together. Make sure that the butter is soft before you start--it's easier that way!2. In a small bowl, crack egg and add vanilla. Beat with fork, then add egg and vanilla to butter and sugar in large bowl. 3. In a medium-sized bowl, combine the flour, baking powder, and salt.4. Add half the flour mixture to large bowl, add milk, and then add the rest of the flour. Mix well.5. Chill the dough for at least two hours in your refrigerator. (You can chill the dough overnight.)6. Use a rolling pin to roll out dough until it is about 1/4" think. You might want to put a little bit of flour on your rolling pin if the dough is sticky. Then use your USA cook cutter to shape your All-American cookies. Sprinkle with colored red sugar before you bake.7. Bake at 350 degrees, on an ungreased cookie sheet, for 8-10 minutes.
