A never-before-told story about superstar John Denver
If we are lucky, in our lifetimes we experience one particularly special Christmas that becomes our fondest holiday memory.
For author Michael Chandler, it is the Christmas Eve he spent with his four-year-old son, Preston, just outside Aspen, Colorado. On this magical night, they shared laughter, conversation, and music with four new friends--an Appaloosa horse, the horse's owner, Joe, another young boy, and his father, a singer-songwriter. They sat in a candlelit barn and told stories, made toasts, and sang along as the "guitar fella" played Christmas carols. At one point, they all sat listening to his calm humming of "Silent Night."
When the evening was over, Preston asked his father who the man with the guitar was. The author, knowing it was the famous singer John Denver, simply said, "The guitar fella's name is John." As father and son walked home hand in hand under a starlit sky, the author realized that on that night, John Denver and his son "were just another couple of cowboys, sharing Christmas Eve with a few friends."
Filled with warm illustrations that capture the glow of this uniquely touching Christmas, The Littlest Cowboy's Christmas celebrates the transcendent and universal language of music and friendship. The book includes a CD of John Denver's recording of "Silent Night."
