Praise for The Seed Collectors:
[A] hyperbolic, raunchy, hilarious immersion in the connected lives of some intensely imperfect people Thomas is a literary star in the United Kingdom. She should be in the United States, too.” Kirkus Starred Review
The Seed Collectors is entrancing: it's a sharply observed contemporary novel of real people and real plants and real desire and real hurt, and it's somehow also one of the sharpest fantasies I've encountered. A sour-and-sweet delight.” Neil Gaiman
Simultaneously sharply-drawn and dreamlike, often hilarious, The Seed Collectors is a baroque family saga of human fallibility, love, eccentricity, sex, spirituality, and of a lost, legendary, coincidentally lethal route to absolute transcendence. Scarlett Thomas is a splendid novelist.” William Gibson
Scarlett Thomas is one of my favourite writers ever and The Seed Collectors might be her best yet. She fuses the comically everyday with a far-out botanical adventure in ways which are brutally funny and profound all at once. Barbed, casually genius, philosophical and intensely readable. A joy.” Matt Haig
Her prose is splendidly alive, full of unexpected phrases and delicious cadences . . . like Pratchett, Thomas blends her flippancy and her philosophy perfectly. A fantastical family saga.” The Guardian
Scarlett Thomas has a skillful way of blending fantasy and realism . . . The Seed Collectors is consistently enjoyable.” Financial Times
She has woven her distinct brand of mystery and intrigue into a complex family saga.” The Observer

A delightful compound of fantasy and traditional family saga . . . A modern fairy-tale, with flashes that are savagely funny.” The Times
"The Seed Collectors confirms Thomas as one of the most startling, unpredictable writers of her generation . . . This is a clever, chaotic novel, with a steely edge hidden behind its rambunctious shenanigans." Spectator
Thomas is a drily witty, ebullient writer, constantly bringing you up short with an arresting observation.” Metro
A rewarding family saga” Scotsman
This magical family saga will cement Thomas’ position at the literary top table” Red
A smart and witty family drama, taking in secrets, sex, suicide, celebrity and the meaning of life.” Glamour
Always original . . . a mindbending novel of family drama” Good Housekeeping
How I love her work!” Grazia, Writer and performer Molly Naylor chose THE SEED COLLECTORS as her top pick in Grazia’s Ups and Downs’ feature
Dazzling” The Lady
Sharp writing and sharper wit . . . a clever, thought-provoking book’ List
Scarlett Thomas is an excellent writer, with a great eye for the detail and idiosyncrasy of the modern world . . . The Seed Collectors cleverly manages to be a pacey read that still finds the space to engage with philosophy and the fantastic. Fun and thoughtful’ Emerald Street in their Reading Room’ section
Extremely good fun . . . riotous, gorgeous, full of flamboyant escapades” Cathy Rentzenbrink, Monocles Arts Review
With each novel, Thomas’s ambitions have grown larger, and this is her most sophisticated...in a world of fading wunderkinds, Scarlett Thomas is proving to be the real deal.” Catholic Herald
Let me be clear. This book will not make you feel good. This book will not give you answers. What it will do is take you on a treasure-chase to the edge of your understanding, and lead you to the realisation that it was never about a destination, but the journey. Thomas’s novels are always oozing with contemporary resonance, so read it. Now.” Kaggsy’s Bookish Ramblings (blog)
I loved it” A Life in Books (blog)
Scarlett Thomas has written an amazing book. I loved it.” Postcard Reviews (blog)
A very modern comedy of manners, touching on themes as diverse as family, desire, academia, and the cult of celebrity . . . a beautifully written, if casually brutal, novel.” Words that can only be your own (blog)
