This is a surprisingly good collection of recipes for those of you who love to cook over an open flame and sleep under the stars. This isn't your typical hot dogs, baked beans and marshmallows on a stick assortment. Good food, like camping, requires preparation. The first part of the book is dedicated to planning and preparation - getting your gear together, gathering your ingredients, how to store food, and how to cook in the great outdoors. It's interesting material even if you have no intention of pitching a tent. The second part is the recipe section which includes sections on condiments, breakfast, midday meals, snacks and appetizers, dinners, side dishes and desserts. The recipes will work on your backyard grill just as easily as they would over a campfire.
