2012 Eric Hoffer Award Finalist, 2012 National Indie Excellence Award Finalist, and Winner of the 2011 Silver Nautilus Award! Combining storytelling and courageous honesty for those who seek spiritually optimistic guidance, this compilation of inspiring stories of female creativity and compassion demonstrates the art of storytelling at its best. Consisting of approximately two dozen nonfiction essays—by authors such as Lauren Artress, Christina Baldwin, Bobbi Gibb, Mama Donna Henes, Jyoti, Dr. Gladys McGarey, Suni Paz, Hagit Ra'anan, Sheri Ritchlin, and Janet Riehl—each unique story is a celebration of courageous women living spiritual lives in the face of challenging circumstances. These authors go beyond the limits of their everyday existence to find that challenges are really just opportunities to reach into their souls and find meaning and new strength in life.

"Brings together a circle of women who tell their stories with the honesty, courage, and humor that lift both the storyteller and the one who listens." Oriah Mountain Dreamer, author, The Invitation and The Call
"This book, by telling stories of individual women, helps all of us to see past the circumstances in our lives which seem to be roadblocks. We find, as we relate to each other, resilience within our own spirit which adds life and color to our lives." Gladys Taylor McGarey, MD, author, The Physician Within You and Born to Live
"Filled with stories from women who, at key points in their lives, acted authentically; any one of them could be a role-model who inspires you to do what is true for you." Jean Shinoda Bolen, MD, author, Crones Don’t Whine and The Millionth Circle
"The medicine here is twofold: demonstrations of how to be a spirit here on earth and living examples of how the feminine works to enliven our place in the Universe. This book will help you meet yourself and the world." Mark Nepo, author, Facing the Lion, Being the Lion
"I have no doubt that some of the stories in The Spirit of a Woman will remain with me forever." Charlene Spretnak, author, Missing Mary
"All of the women's stories are full of courage, compassion (including self-compassion), discovery and authenticity. . . . one can't help but feel empowered by them. The power of the stories themselves, the writing of them, and the sharing of them in the book, is a marvellous gift." storycirclebookreviews.org
