Her designs often include things she's found on her travels-she's set foot on every continent-including Kazuli beads from Kenya and carved amber pendants from Chiapas, Mexico, where she's done humanitarian work. Christine Calla began making jewelry after her husband was in a near-fatal accident and she was desperate for a way to calm her nerves. After thoroughly cannibalizing her '80s jewelry and giving her creations away as gifts, requests and orders began pouring in from family and friends.
