In "Lawless Strip," Sam Kyler and three ranch hands are off to purchase cattle, but on the way, the hired hands rob Kyler of the money entrusted to him. Kyler sets off in pursuit of the men, but is foiled when his own employer charges him with the theft. Now a wanted man himself, Kyler flees and follows the trail to a territory known as the "Strip", an area in the panhandle west of the Indian Territory -- an area with no law enforcement.

"The Cuchillo Plains" is an area of big ranches wanting to become bigger. Jim Ryan wants to buy out Tom Strickland's S-Bar, and leaves when Strickland turns him away. But while he's still on S-Bar land, he hears a shot and turns to see Ryan collapse. Though he can't see the murderer, Strickland goes after him, and when he gets to town, he's shocked to learn that he's the one being charged with Strickland's murder.
