This book is designed to serve as a reference guide to the Current Procedural Terminology (CPT) codebook and related CPT products, and is not intended to replace the CPT Professional or Standard editions. The book can be used as an aid in understanding the application of some of the most commonly reported and most often misunderstood codes. The book follows the same organizational structures as the main CPT codebook. Clinical scenarios represent the typical situation for which a code would be reported, rather than the entire universe of patients for whom the service or procedure would be appropriate. Each covered CPT code not only includes clinical scenarios, but also a description of physician activities involved in the procedure in the preservice, intraservice, and postservice time periods. Data has been drawn from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services and the Resource-Based Relative Value Scale process. Annotation ©2009 Book News, Inc., Portland, OR (booknews.com)
