In 1998 the author was invited to the Perth literary Festival, and, as part of the arrangements he was invited to attend Karratha's first literary dinner. Karratha is a mining town, a long way from anywhere  let alone Perth. While he was there the author decided to explore, and, outside Dampier he found a bronze statue to Red Dog  an Australian kelpie. Louis thought this bore needed more investigation  and the book is the result of that investigation. Minor, and I do mean minor, rubbing of the book corners and backstrip corners.
