This nostalgic trip down memory lane offers many unexpected pleasures. There's a certain priggish joy that would be highly unlikely to garner even vaguely forgiving reviews in today's image-conscious market. Even inveterate camera-fancier Lawrence Harvey has to admit that Ricoh's 1988 Mirai 105 was 'a bit of a howler in the looks department'.
But, as is so often the way with books of this nature, it's the similarities - rather than the differences - that hit home the hardest.
