Their stories are interspersed with short essays about the city by Timothy and portraits by highly acclaimed photographer Steve Pyke. There are horror stories in every city, but these things aren't just happening in Las Vegas... they're happening because of it.

L'autore

Timothy O'Grady was born in Chicago and has lived in Ireland, London, Spain and Poland. He was in Las Vegas after receiving a fellowship from the Black Mountain Institute there and stayed on for another year to teach. He has written three works of non-fiction: Curious Journey; On Golf; and, most recently, Divine Magnetic Lands, an account of a return journey around America after thirty years of living in Europe. His novels are Motherland, I Could Read the Sky and Light.

Steve Pyke's work has been exhibited worldwide and he is considered one of the leading portrait photographers in the world. His work includes the series Philosophers and Astronauts. For the past 35 years, he has worked consistently on his series collecting the Faces of our Time. He has published nine books. In 2004 Steve received an MBE in the Queen's New Years Honours list for his services to the Arts. In 2006 he was made a Friend of the Royal Photographic Society.
