The late Paul Frere -- engineer, writer and former top racing drive--drove virtually every Porsche 911 variant, and was regarding by Porsche almost as part of the family. He carried out the last update of his book at the age of 88, but sadly died in February 2008 at the age of 91.
For the ninth edition, the torch passes to Tony Dron, who echoes Frere's special qualities in so many ways that he is without doubt the best writer to take over the task of updating his esteemed book.
