Recensione:
For the past 15 years, renowned pigeon shot Will Garfit has been delighting Shooting Gazette readers with tales of his time in the shooting field... his style reflects his humour, love of shooting and appreciation of those who make it work. Wonderfully illustrated by the author...An excellent book sure to evoke many memories. --Shooting Gazette
Ranging from pigeon shooting, through the management of his own small shoot, to the wider state of the countryside, Will's writing is imbued with his innate charm and humour. --Shooting Times
Delightfully delicate illustrations adorn the pages, illuminating charming tales that echo with country warmth and gentle wit. Reading it is a special treat, like having a crumpet in front of the fire with a favourite uncle. With the artist's sensibility and perception, this book is a glimpse at country life to be cherished and enjoyed at leisure. --The Field
Garfit is also an artist with an MA from the Royal Academy Schools (he has just had a 15-year retrospective at the Tryon Gallery in London). With illustrations for over 30 country sports books under his belt, Garfit is also a crack shot (in the 100 best ever, said July's The Field) and a rattling good writer. --Sporting Shooter
A very nicely put together collection... very entertaining. Will is a great shot and true sportsman, who has a very perceptive eye and mind. Moreover in addition to capturing it all in words, he is of course a big talent with a paintbrush, and his book is beautifully illustrated. --Fieldsports
L'autore:
Will Garfit was brought up in a small Cambridgeshire village. In 1969 he acquired seventy acres of abandoned gravel workings and has developed this area to become a paradise which optimises management for sport and conservation. The project won the Laurent Perrier Award (now Purdey Award) in 1988 and led to his writing Will's Shoot and subsequently Will's Shoot Revisited (both published by Quiller).
His work has been exhibited at the Tryon Gallery, London, since 1981 and he has appeared in the top ten Shots in various magazines including the Field, Shooting Times, Sporting Gun and Shooting Gazette. He has sat on the Countryside Alliance Conservation and BASC Game Shooting Committees and is a member of the panel of judges of the Purdey Awards.
He has illustrated over thirty country sports books and lives in Cambridgeshire with his wife, two daughters and a son.
