This book is intended for a very wide audience, for anybody who would like to enrich their own appreciation of the Eucharist. It grew out of a series of reflections on the Eucharist in a parish newsletter, and out of a course conducted for liturgy groups in a number of parishes. The thoughts and ideas proved very helpful to people in throwing new light on the meaning of the Mass and in opening up new ways of seeing and participating in it. The first part of the book is a set of brief thoughts on the many phrases in the Mass that we repeat week in week out. New life is brought to words that are so familiar as to be almost taken for granted. The second part is a series of short reflections on the Eucharist from over thirty different angles. These are like different windows on this central act of our faith, opening up different aspects of its rich meaning. The third part is made up of essays on four moments in the celebration the gathering at the start, the Word, the Eucharist, and the sending at the end. Anybody who participates in the Eucharist will find rich sources for reflection here. Anybody who wants to deepen their appreciation will find much to satisfy them. The book will be very useful to parish groups who are trying to enhance the weekly celebration of the Eucharist in the community.
