L'autore:
essa Strickland is the co-founder and publisher of Barefoot Books. The second of five children, she was brought up in rural Yorkshire and spent most of her childhood among ponies, dogs, cows, hens, hamsters and other animals. Her father was a stoic Yorkshireman who never went anywhere. However, her mother was a New Zealander who corresponded weekly with friends from the other side of the world and who had a steady stream of relatives passing through the house as part of their European travels. Perhaps this is why she became intrigued at an early age by the notion of friendship at a distance, and by the passage of ideas across continents. After a long illness as a teenager, her interest swung from ponies to books and became fascinated by the beliefs and values of different cultures. She now divides her time between caring for her three children, Francis, Rollo and Zoe, and running Barefoot Books, which she regards as her fourth and most demanding child. Debbie Harter was born and raised in England, and she currently lives in Penzance, Cornwall. She has participated in all kinds of artistic ventures, creating jewelery, textiles, ceramics, mirrors and candles. Now Debbie works primarily in book illustration, and with her bold and vibrant style, has created many of Barefoot Books' most successful titles, including Herb, the Vegetarian Dragon (1999), The Animal Boogie (2000) and the best-selling Bear series.
