Ford Hermann Hueffer was born to a German father and English mother. He became Ford Madox Ford in the aftermath of World War I. He became an eminent literary figure and earned a reputation of one of the great Modernists writers. There is fresh interest in his work, thanks to the television series Parades End, adapted by Tom Stoppard and starring Benedict Cumberbatch.
