In 1899 Willcox was a railroad town; the Southern Pacific tracks ran along the street aptly named Railroad Avenue. Population five hundred, the main street was lined with a half dozen saloons, a livery stable, the stage office, post office, drug store, and a boardinghouse.

Nearby is Bonnie Landers, a young lady struggling with the upkeep of her deceased parents' ranch while keeping tabs on her brothers and their devious, demanding grandfather. After Gramps is kidnapped and a brother killed by the outlaw Brady, events turn increasingly ugly. Bonnie's biggest challenge is finding anyone she can trust in a lawless town filled with rowdy cowboys and a constable as violent and corrupt as the rest.
