L'autore:
Niall Lacey is a dedicated public servant who has slowly been escaping for many years. He has written speeches, travel articles, boldly evasive letters and other brilliant unpaid works. In addition to the pen he won in High School for an essay competition, he has been paid money once or twice for contributions to magazines. Boarg of the Lake is his first published novel. It was inspired by his nephew, Adam, and his niece, Andrea, whose crazy antics ten years ago made a rain-soaked camping trip almost bearable. His Young Adult novel, Tintern Wolf, is currently being dissected by some very nice people.
Dalla seconda/terza di copertina:
It is the dawn of Christianity. It is the twilight of the druids. But, or however, Boarg doesn’t know it. With religion, fate, and good old-fashioned murder and pillage all going to the same party, it’s a wonder a magical powerhouse can get any work done at all. There’s a Lady of the Lake wannabe to “protect” and a navigationally challenged horde of Vikings dogging his every step. As Boarg seeks inspiration to guide his people through these difficult times, his people seek inspiration elsewhere. Boarg must plunge into the world of his enemies, unsure of his own destiny. Luckily, no one else has a clue where they’re going either. The Vikings know where they want to go, but they can’t find it. The Christians know where they want to be, but it’s hard to get there. And Boarg’s mysterious companion knows where she should be, but instead she’s stuck here. It’s a bit of a mess really as ancient Ireland implodes in battles, pretty pictures and a mean sea shanty.
