Cherie Rood grew up and attended college in Kentucky before moving to Atlanta, Georgia and marrying her husband Charlie, with whom she has two college-age sons, Trey and Wes. When Trey was diagnosed with stage III melanoma near the end of his freshmen year of high school, then relapsed to stage IV melanoma the start of his senior year, Cherie began the fight of her life. In their book, "Changing the Game Plan," Trey and Cherie tell their compelling story of how they fought one of the deadliest forms of cancer.
