My first name is Guadalupe, but my parents always called me by my middle name, Carolina. In Mexico, "Lupita" is an endearing name for Guadalupe. I was brought to the United States at the age of two. We came here in search of a better life and in hopes of achieving the American Dream.I grew up in the public school system, then went to East Carolina University to study psychology and to North Carolina Central University School of Law. Throughout my educational career I faced the complex immigration process like many other Dreamers in the United States. Dreamer is a common term used in the United States to refer to children of immigrants who dream of achieving the American Dream. You can see how the word "dreamer" has a layer of meanings for me! As I grew up in the States, I noticed the sacrifices my parents made throughout my life and knew I had to bring unity to my family, even if it was divided by a man-made border. I used my passion to unite my own family to write my first children's book, Lupita and the Magic of Mexico, and to share this message with others who might be going through similar situations. As I shared this message across our public schools, many children could relate to my story and began sharing with me nightmares they had about family separation, so I wrote, Lupita and her Magical Dreams for kids to understand the meaning of their nightmares. In writing these books, I learned that love has no borders and that stories can unite us in a magical way. I currently share my message of love, unity, and peace through my books, social media, and interaction with anyone I come in contact with. My passion is to inspire those around me by my example, and my mission is to provide guidance with dreams, including nightmares.
