L'Art nouveau connaît à Nancy un développement remarquable grâce à l'Ecole de Nancy, fondée par Émile Gallé et rassemblant des artistes majeurs, tels Louis Majorelle, Victor Prouvé, Jacques Gruber, Eugène Vallin ou les Frères Daum. Mobilier, céramique, verre, vitrail, reliure, textile... toutes les techniques liées aux arts décoratifs concourent à une production puisant dans la nature des formes et des décors entièrement nouveaux. Le musée de l'Ecole de Nancy, créé dès 1900, réunit un ensemble de pièces exceptionnelles, dû en grande partie à la générosité des artistes, de leurs descendants, mais aussi de mécènes dont Eugène Corbin, qui fit don de sa collection à la Ville de Nancy en 1935. Cet ouvrage propose une large sélection d'œuvres, pour certaines uniques, emblématiques du formidable essor créatif qui caractérise Nancy dans les années 1900.
