»Der zerbrochne Krug« ist das Lustspiel vom Dorfrichter Adam, der gezwungen wird, über seine eigenen Verfehlungen zu Gericht zu sitzen. Das Stück lebt von seinen raschen Dialogen und prallen Charakteren, allen voran dem Dorfrichter selbst. Nur Kleists Humor, sein Sprachwitz und der versöhnliche Schluss des Stücks verhindern, dass aus dem Komödienstoff eine Tragödie wird, denn letztlich handelt das Stück von Vertrauen und Vertrauensmissbrauch. Der ›Krug‹ ist ein Meisterwerk des Lustspiels und gehört zu den meistgespielten Stücken auf deutschsprachigen Bühnen.
