Herausgegeben wird der Band mit hundert Gedichten von ihrer Erbin und Vertrauten Gisela Zoch-Westphal, die bereits das Mascha Kaléko-Lesebuch ›Die paar leuchtenden Jahre‹ sowie ›In meinen Träumen läutet es Sturm‹ zusammengestellt hat.

L'autore:

Mascha Kaléko (1907 – 1975) fand in den Zwanzigerjahren in Berlin Anschluss an die intellektuellen Kreise des Romanischen Cafés. Zunächst veröffentlichte sie Gedichte in Zeitungen, bevor sie 1933 mit dem ›Lyrischen Stenogrammheft‹ ihren ersten großen Erfolg feiern konnte. 1938 emigrierte sie in die USA, 1959 siedelte sie von dort nach Israel über. Mascha Kaléko zählt neben Sarah Kirsch, Hilde Domin, Marie Luise Kaschnitz, Nelly Sachs und Else Lasker- Schüler zu den bedeutendsten deutschsprachigen Lyrikerinnen des 20. Jahrhunderts.
