Wie konnen in dieser kleinen Welt 100 Milliarden Operationen pro Sekunde korrekt ausgefuhrt werden? Mit dieser Bilddokumentation soll ein Einblick in die mathematischen, technischen und asthetischen Aspekte beim Design hochstintegrierter (VLSI = Very Large-Scale Integrated) Chips gegeben werden. In Vergrosserungen von 10:1 bis 6.800:1 werden elektromikroskopische Aufnahmen den Telekommunikationschips ZORA den entsprechenden Ausschnitten des mathematischen Entwurfs (Plotter-Zeichnungen) gegenubergestellt. Ein zweiter Teil kontrastiert Graphiken aus dem Chip-Design mit Bildern konstruktivistischer Kunstler wie Mondrian, Albers und anderen.
