This introductory text describes the acquisition, analysis and processing of remotely sensed image data. It is intended for the postgraduate and senior undergraduate student as well as the practitioner who, although not highly skilled in mathematics, still wishes to understand how algorithms work and how they should be applied. It covers a range of image classification techniques commonly used, as well as techniques in image enhancement necessary for the effective photointerpretation of image data. Each chapter contains worked examples which illustrate the operations of the various algorithms covered.
